Joshua Kang
Lead Pastor
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
My week begins with a day of rest (awesome!), which is usually spent
cleaning the house and running errands, besides having a lunch date with
Lanna. Tuesday through Thursday is filled with connecting with people
via email and visitations, connecting with pastoral staff via worship
planning meetings and doing lunches, and connecting with God via
studying for the weekend message. My weekday evenings are usually used
for goofing off with my kids. On Fridays, I meet with the staff, getting
ready for the weekend and doing leadership training. I also look forward
to attending my small group on Friday evenings. My Saturdays are devoted
to message prep, besides accountability meetings, prayer meetings and
occasional weddings. Sunday is the party time, worshipping the Lord!
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
Seeing people change from living for the American dream to living for
the Kingdom dream.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what would
that be?
I would go to an all-inclusive-resort in Cancun with the family and
friends I love and spend the whole day eating, laughing and playing
volleyball in the swimming pool.
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside the
Bible…)?
Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire – Jim Cymbala, The Discipline of Grace – Jerry
Bridges, The Purpose Driven Church – Rick Warren
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
If it counts, our ‘family movie’ will definitely top the list. If
not, I would take the first ‘Rocky” movie.

Daniel Teater
Palatine Campus Pastor
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
Since I'm still relatively new I am still figuring out the daily
ins-and-outs. I am helping oversee several areas at our Palatine campus
which means that I am doing a lot of administrative stuff. Since I began
my e-mail inbox has filled up rapidly so it feels like I have to be on
the ball with that 24/7. Besides staff meetings and teaching team
meetings I try to spend time with various members throughout the week so
that I can connect with them a bit better. I also am helping to run the
Kidsland and Student ministries at Palatine.
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
Connecting with people is a huge blessing and privilege. I love watching
people develop a passion for Jesus Christ and His kingdom work. I love
those 'ah-ha' moments when people begin to see the glory of God more
clearly and become consumed with a passion for something bigger than
themselves.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what would
that be?
Boy that is hard. I can think of so many things that I would like to do.
My wife and I have a long standing joke that whenever I ask her what she
would like to do she responds, 'Go to the Bahamas.' So even if it was
just for a day I would like to go to the Bahamas with my wife.
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside the
Bible….)?
Spiritual disciplines for the Christian life (Donald Whitney)
John Piper books Desiring God, Don't waste your life, When I don't
desire God, Let the Nations be glad.. (sorry I'm cheating but his basic
premise is similar in all his books it is just rehashed in various ways)
Chronicles of Narnia (again, sorry I'm cheating but as a kid I learned a
lot about God through these books)
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
Well since I have already been cheating up to this point I might as well
cheat here too. I would go with Lord of the Rings (the series) but if I
was forced to choose one of them I would go with Return of the King.

Jonathan Ro
Executive Pastor
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
In addition to attending weekly teaching team and staff meetings, I
love to connect one-on-one with staff or leaders to find out how
they are doing and support them spiritually and relationally as much
as I can. I wish I could do more of it with my limited time because
of going back to school full-time.
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
I really like having deep conversations with people about life and
ministry.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what would
that be?
I would go to a conference or missions trip with Lakeview people.
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside the
Bible….)?
Purpose-Driven Church by Rick Warren
Cross-Cultural Connections by Duane Elmer
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
The Jason Bourne Series

Jana Holiday
Director of Community Life
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
A major portion of my week consists of me trying to take care of
administrative details. I coordinate stuff (I counted that I send an
average of 118 e-mails a week), there are meetings to be had, small
group studies to write, projects to work on, books to read, people
to hang with, and so on…
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
I love trying to develop tools at Lakeview that will help people
know God better (as well as help us connect with each other) from
small groups, to journey courses, to whatever training or event we
can have.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what would
that be?
After waking up I would sit on my front porch in the sunshine
drinking coffee and chat with God. Then I would have brunch with
good friends—and there would be really interesting and challenging
conversation, as well as lots of laughter. Then I would go hiking in
the Black Forest region of Germany where I used to live and visit my
favorite castle ruins. My perfect day would end with Saturday Night
Barbeque (a Holiday family tradition enacted for more than 17
years).
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside the
Bible….)?
I read a lot, so these are just the ones from recent history…Longing
to Know by Esther Meek, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter
Scazzero, and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
Casablanca. It’s so beautiful, with so many great lines and an
engrossing story.

Herb Ahn
Worship Director
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
Sundays are my big days for obvious reasons, so my work begins on
Tuesday and then progressively gets busier with lots of meetings,
emails, practices, admin work and a bunch of odd tasks in order for
Sunday services to run at both campuses. Monday is the one day i try
to rest and not answer emails or do any type of ministry
work--although i find that it's hard for me to separate from my
computer for a full day.
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
I absolutely love the people I get to serve with. I don't view them as
ministry partners, but they are the people I "do life with".
Although I can't hang out with every single person within the
ministry b/c there are so many, there are a good number of them that
I can share my life with inside and outside of the church walls.
Relationships are important to me so it's really a blessing to have
this kind of opportunity.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what
would that be?
Right now I would love to go on vacation--maybe on a beach where it's
warm and it has white sand & that cool blue water.
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside the
Bible….)?
Worship Old and New - Bob Webber, An Hour on Sunday -
Nancy Beach, Confessions of a Pastor - Craig Groeschel
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life,
what would it be?
There are too many but i will go with Hero for now.

Rosa Rosario
kidsland director
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
An average week at Lakeview would definitely be emails, emails, and
more emails :). They always have to be checked, answered, and sent!
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
I enjoy just being a part of showing God's love to our kids. Its so
amazing to hear them speak about Jesus and all that he did and
continues to do in our lives. Its a huge blessing to get to know and
see the different personalities that our kidslands has to offer.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what
would that be?
If I had a day to do anything I wanted if would consist of doing
Nothing. No schedules, not worrying about time, and no commitments!
A day to do what-ever or go where-ever with out any worries.
What are the top 3 books that have changed your life (beside
the Bible….)?
Three books that have touch my heart:
1.'Six Hours one Friday' by Max Lucado
2.'When God Doesn't Make Sense' by Dr. James Dobson
3. 'Martha to the Max' by Debi Stack
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life,
what would it be?
it would be ____??_____. After thinking of this question I could not
decide. I have so many favorites i could not pick. So if it really
came down to picking one I would probably be stuck never watching
another movie again!
